LEST WE FORGET 26/11, LEST WE FORGET THE MARTYRS

Blog post for Graphic Era University Official Blog http://geu.ac.in/blog/lest-we-forget-2611-lest-we-forget-the-martyrs/ Diwali is one of my favorite festivals, I really enjoy being with my close ones within the illuminated world on this day. However the thing which I don’t like much about Diwali is bursting of the crackers and all that noise. If I remember aptly, it has been over a decade since I have shunned bursting crackers. Even few of my closest mates have stopped doing so. Well, this Diwali was however a bit different as I was at my sister’s place and for the sake of my niece I had to get into burning a few. Though one day when she will grow up, I hope that she would also join me in the crusade of no noise and air pollution. (Ahh the word crusade makes it sound as if I am into a mission). While burning the crackers one of them hurled towards me but thankfully I was quick enough to run away from it! At last even though it was all lost out in laughter, it did make me t...

Giving it Back !!

Blog Entry for  the Graphic Era University Official Blog http://geu.ac.in/blog/giving-it-back/ What’s the plan mate? My friend asked me after he had wished me a happy birthday. I wasn’t sure but a party was surely on my list. Even if I don’t do anything lavish still spending few grands over a birthday would be customary. Few months later it was the birthday of one of my manager at my office. After I had wished him I too asked “What’s your plan for today?” what he replied made a sweet and everlasting impression on my mind. It was years since he had started to celebrate his day in a very unique way. His family along with him visits any of the orphanages nearby on each of his birthday. He does all his celebrations at the orphanage itself, has the cake with the kids and shares a meal with them. Like everyone he also knows that this would change anything in the life of those kids, but it will surely give the kids a thing which they often feel short of, a smile on their fac...

DONATE BLOOD…BE A PART OF THE NOBLE DEED!

Another blog entry for the Graphic Era University Official Blog http://geu.ac.in/blog/donate-blood-be-a-part-of-the-noble-deed/ Holiday season is always such a bliss and being in office after that is always so painful. Well, the diwali vacations are over, all the celebrations are now some sweet memories from the past which have been well captured in our hearts and digi-cams. For the sake of sanity, routine life had to be back in action and it was, but with a bang! Like always, today morning I was travelling to my office in the office cab when suddenly something woke me up and helped my morning to not be a somber one. It was an advertisement regarding blood donation being aired in one of the FM channel. In the advertisement, a little girl thanks some random guy for donating blood to her. The guy emphasizes that he is not the one who has donated blood to her. Hearing this, the girl comes up with a beautiful statement, she says that she is suffering from Thalassemia and is reg...

Happy Teachers Day !!!

Wrote this for Graphic Era University Official Blog :   http://geu.ac.in/blog/happy-teachers-day/#more-53 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My sister recently visited my place for a vacation. Amidst all the things which kept me busy the thing which took the major chunk of my time was teaching my niece. And you should believe that it was never an easygoing thing. It was hard to make her believe that a 2 + 2 is 4. With all my wisdom and experience i thought of a realistic example and asked her if you have 2 toffees and you get another 2 from me how much would you have? But she was like “Only 2 toffees, nooo i need a dairy milk and a kinder joy”. Somehow i made her believe that this was an example, and taught her the addition thing. But the entire day she sought after me for those extra toffees. Amidst all this hilarious stuff i realized that how difficult it is to teach a person or in other words how difficult it is to ma...

The War

He was all sweaty, sweat dripping from his forehead as if a tap was left open. His eyes were going red, he was breathing heavy. He folded his sleeves up. He was talking to himself. He was reciting his plan.his eyes were grounded. He knew he had all the wishes backing him up. He looked up, there were another few rushing up towards him, eyes in eyes with a formidable glare. He too returned  the pleasantries. He shouldered them, shrugged them. Rushed through them. He felt as if he was scratched at his arms. He prayed, he thought about all the good time he had spent. And finally the struggle he went through reaped him fruits. He got what he was fighting for. The ultimate prize. A seat in the DELHI METRO.Now he could breathe in the cool air flowing through the AC Vents. As he sat ,there were envious eyes looking at him cursing him for the good luck he had got. And he was all smiles for the luck he was going through. P.S : This post is dedicated to all the Daily commuters of Delhi Metro....

Ideologies !!!

Whom should i vote for? This is the biggest chaos my mind has been dealing for months, since the inception of the nationwide elections. And one of the worst nightmares these elections have brought is that my Facebook time line is flocked with promotional videos , pictures of various political parties. Now i hardly see any pictures of my friends getting married, no posts telling the  place where they are dining and with whom, which movie they are in, no posts telling they are feeling happy, Sad , irritated. If i look into one perspective of this,it really speaks that the country is getting a bit more involved into things of real concern i.e. the national politics. But the other perspective really makes me sick, the way few of my friends are endorsing the political leaders of their choice. Some of them simply seem rude and offensive. Even i have seen comments where a person feels that the different choices of political parties might also lead to ruin their friendship. I don't feel t...

The Gladiator !!

Sachin Tendulkar,Brian lara,Ricky ponting,Jacques kallis, kumar sangakara, inzamam. What is that which strikes our mind when we talk about these bunch of guys. They all were the most premier batsmen of the modern era. Apart from these greats we had greats in the bowling arena too. Bowlers like waqar, akram, akhtar,Mcgrath,War ne,Lee,Gillespie, muralitharan, vans, ambrose,Walsh,Donald, stey n ,pollock were always there to terrorise the batsmen and make their feet dwindle. But apart from Tendulkar each of the batsmen was fortunate enough to avoid facing atleast few of the bowlers, reason they were team mates. Like ponting was fortunate enough to never face the spinning mysteries of Warne, nor the dead accurate deliveries of Mcgrath and Co with almost the whole team standing at slip cordon. Likewise inzi never had to face the fierce toe breaking yorkers from waqar, nor the reverse swing from wasim which bent like a banana, and the maniac pace from the rawalpindi express. Lara never had to spent s...
